Itinerary

Day 0 | April 1, 2025

Arrival to Santiago

• Arrive in Santiago de Chile. Because of tomorrow's early morning flight to Puerto Natales, we advise all participants to fly to Santiago at least one day earlier and spend the night at the Holiday Inn hotel located in the airport terminal.
• If you are interested in an additional program like a Day trip to Valparaiso» to photograph murals or spend several extra days in Torres Del Paine with puma trackers - please inquire upon registration.

Day 1 | April 2, 2025

Santiago – Puerto Natales – Torres del Paine

• Fly from Santiago (SCL) to Puerto Natales (PNT) on the recommended LATAM Airlines flight (Preliminary LA1 flight departing SCL @ 9:34 am).
• Upon landing and collecting your luggage, proceed to the airport arrivals hall where your guides and driver will meet you. After lunch in Puerto Natales, we will embark on a 2-hour drive to Torres del Paine National Park, where we will check in to our hotel.
• For the next three nights, we will be staying at one of the best hotels in Torres del Paine, offering stunning views of the incredible Los Cuernos mountains. We can even capture amazing pictures right from the hotel’s doorstep! The hotel's spa features a heated pool, sauna, gym, relaxation areas, changing rooms, and a breathtaking view of the Paine Massif.
• Tonight, we are heading out for our first photo session in Torres del Paine.

Days 2-3 | April 3-4, 2025

Torres del Paine National Park

• Over the next two days, we'll have the flexibility to explore various locations within Torres del Paine National Park, selecting prime shooting spots based on the daily weather forecast, which we'll monitor closely. We'll access these locations through drives and short walks, ensuring we make the most of optimal lighting conditions.
• Torres del Paine presents a myriad of photographic opportunities: Turquoise lakes, cascading waterfalls, expansive mountain panoramas, and the striking contrast of autumn foliage against the Patagonian landscape offer limitless subjects. Notable locations include Los Cuernos, the Towers of Paine, the vivid hues of Laguna Amarga, Laguna Azul, and Lago Pehoe, as well as the mystical landscapes of the Dead Forest.
• We'll also seize the chance to capture iconic scenes such as guanacos against the backdrop of majestic mountains, and graceful horses grazing on lush Patagonian grasslands. With luck, we may even encounter Patagonia's apex predator - the Puma.
• One of the highlights is a boat excursion to Glacier Grey, where we'll photograph the breathtaking ice terminal meeting the lake, framed by rugged mountain peaks. The sight of bright-blue icebergs drifting in Lago Grey further enhances the surreal beauty of this experience.

Day 4 | April 5, 2025

Torres del Pine – Cerro Castillo border crossing - El Chalten

• A long day of driving is ahead of us. We start very early and head to the eastern part of the park, where we will photograph the Towers of Paine at sunrise from either Laguna Amarga or Laguna Azul, and visit the cascades of the Paine River.
• After crossing the border into Argentina at Don Guillermo Pass, we will continue to El Chaltén located at the foot of the Fitzroy Massif. We'll check in for three nights at the top hotel in town, which also provides spa facilities including a sauna and pool.
• Depending on the time of our arrival and the weather, we may have the opportunity to photograph Mount Fitz Roy and Mount Cerro Torre tonight from Ruta 40 or the classic Las Vueltas River Canyon Overlook.

Day 5-6 | April 6-7, 2025

Los Glaciares National Park. El Chalten

• El Chaltén offers unparalleled photo opportunities to capture the majestic beauty of the Patagonian Andes. The iconic peaks of Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre provide dramatic backdrops for sunrise and sunset photography. 
• The area is home to several easily reachable scenic spots, and we will also offer optional hikes for those seeking more challenging shots. 
• The vibrant autumn foliage, and diverse wildlife, including Andean condors and guanacos, provide endless subjects for stunning landscape and nature photography. 
• Our activities in the area are flexible and will be planned according to light and weather conditions, allowing us to make the most of what Mother Nature offers and to photograph mountains, clouds, and the warming light of the austral autumn at its best.

Day 7 | April 8, 2025

El Chalten - El Calafate - Perito Moreno Glacier

• After a sunrise session at one of the overlooks near the town and breakfast, we will say goodbye to El Chaltén and move to El Calafate.
• This afternoon will be dedicated to photographing the magnificent Perito Moreno Glacier!
• This spectacular mass of ice spans 121 square miles and is one of the few glaciers in the world in a quasi-steady state, with no major changes in size over the past centuries.
• The massive glacier towers above the turquoise waters of Lago Argentino in Los Glaciares National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making it one of the most impressive glaciers in the world. We will spend the entire afternoon capturing this gigantic, sharp ice field under the fall colors from different viewpoints until sunset.
• Tonight is our final dinner in Patagonia—a time to share our experiences and enjoy some Malbec!

Day 8 | April 9, 2025

El Calafate. Fly home or join our Iguazu Falls extension

• After breakfast, we will pack up and drive to El Calafate Airport, where we will wrap up this photo adventure across Patagonia. You can also take a private taxi if you need to catch your flight earlier or later.
• Our driver is going back to Purto Natales today. You're welcome to go back to Puerto Natales with the bus free of charge. 
• Participants of the adjacent trip to Iguazu Falls (April 9-13) are flying to Puerto Iguazu via Buenos Aires..

Accommodation

At the end of our trip, we will stay in El Calafate at another luxurious hotel with modern amenities, including a full-service spa, an indoor pool, and a gourmet restaurant. From there, we will explore the Perito Moreno Glacier and prepare for our flights home.

Fitness Level

• This is not a hiking photo tour; however, most of the locations require short walks on uneven terrain to reach the best views. There are a couple of locations that require short hikes ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 miles with a 200-300 ft elevation gain. Both of these hikes are optional.
• We will also offer some optional, more demanding guided hikes for those who want to reach more secluded locations.
• Days can be long, depending on the weather conditions. On good days, we might spend most of the day out photographing different locations.
• Being in good physical shape is fundamental to enjoying this experience to the fullest.

Weather

In the first part of April, temperatures in Patagonia average from 5°C to 15°C (41°F to 59°F), but they can easily drop to freezing in the morning. The region is known for its variable and often powerful winds. Rain and even snow are also common, so it's essential to be prepared for wet weather. Thanks to such variability, this time of year often offers fast-changing light conditions and a dramatic Patagonian sky with possible lenticular clouds, complementing the vibrant autumn foliage. There are also fewer tourists, making it an excellent season for photography.
